Important Informatoin & Rules

  1. Choose the correct visa category- Applicants travelling to China for commercial trade or business activities should apply for the appropriate M Visa (Business/Commercial Visa)

  2. Have a valid passport -  Applicants should hold a valid ordinary passport. The New Delhi Visa Centre advises replacing a passport with less than 6 months' validity because there is a risk of refusal or refusal of entry.

  3. Apply according to your residential jurisdiction -Applicants must submit their applications through the Chinese Embassy/Consulate or Visa Application Service Centre responsible for their place of residence.

  4. Business purpose must be genuine - The purpose of travel should correspond to legitimate commercial activities such as business meetings, trade, supplier visits, factory visits, sourcing, negotiations or exhibitions.

  5. Invitation/supporting commercial documentation is required - An M Visa application normally requires commercial-activity documentation from a Chinese trade partner, a trade-fair invitation or another qualifying invitation.

  6. Information must be truthful and consistent- The information provided in the application should accurately reflect the applicant's identity, travel purpose and business activities.

  7. Online application procedure must be followed- Applicants should use the current online visa-processing/application system applicable to their Chinese Visa Application Service Centre. The Chinese Embassy in India currently publishes online-processing notices on its official visa page.

  8. Follow the Visa Centre's submission instructions - After completing the required online process, applicants must follow the relevant Visa Centre's instructions for submitting the application and supporting materials.

  9. Additional information may be requested - The Chinese Embassy/Consulate may request additional documents, clarification or an interview when necessary.

  10. Visa approval is not guaranteed - Submission of an application does not guarantee issuance. The Chinese consular authority has the final decision.

  11. Visa validity and entries are decided by the authorities - The authorities determine the visa's validity period, number of entries and permitted duration of stay. A multiple-entry visa is not automatically guaranteed.

  12. M Visa is not a general employment visa - An M Visa is intended for commercial/business activities. Foreign nationals intending to work in China generally require a Z Visa and the applicable work authorization.

  13. Respect the permitted stay - Applicants must leave China before the permitted period of stay expires unless they have obtained the appropriate lawful extension or residence status.

  14. Do not undertake activities inconsistent with the visa purpose - Activities in China should remain consistent with the purpose for which the visa was issued.

  15. Fingerprint rules may be temporarily exempted - China has extended the temporary exemption from fingerprint collection for qualifying short-term visa applications with stays of up to 180 days through 31 December 2026, subject to the applicable conditions.

Visa fees and service fees are separate
The total amount payable can include the Chinese Embassy/Consulate visa fee plus the Visa Application Service Centre's service fee.

The New Delhi Visa Centre currently lists expected collection on the 6th working day for normal service and the 4th working day for express service, subject to its conditions and any additional processing.

  16. Fees and rules can change - Applicants should verify the latest official information before submission. For Indian passport holders, China's reduced visa fees have currently been extended through 31 December 2026

Entry into China remains subject to border control
A visa permits travel to a Chinese port of entry but does not by itself guarantee admission. Final entry is subject to Chinese immigration and border authorities.

  17. Use official sources for final verification- Applicants should verify current requirements, fees, processing arrangements and jurisdiction through the official Chinese Embassy and Visa Application Service Centre before applying.
